In July of 2010, we were in the midst of planning a wedding and a honeymoon drive into Mexico and Central America when an opportunity came up to meet my family in France. My sister-in-law had spent three years from age 8 to 11 living in a small village in the hills above Nice and discovered that the house she’d lived in was available for rent. Ann and I decided to take a little side trip before convening with the family and ended up riding a 1500 mile loop from Nice to the Pyrenees and back via the spine of the Alps on a rented F800GS motorcycle.
