Hey, it's a sunset! Haven't seen one of those in a while, especially not behind a huuuge volcano. Plus, we're now about as far away from Boston (our destination by Halloween, about 5000 miles away!) as possible. This is how they launch the fishing boats at Deep Creek Beach. The tide comes probably 300 ft up a mostly-sandy, gentle slope. Fishermen wait their turn to have one of these rusty John Deere - strike that, they've changed the logos to read "John Moose" - back them into the water. #deepcreekbeach #kenai

Music festivals aren't exactly what they used to be for us anymore, but we still manage to see a little music, have a beer and enjoy the scene, by which I mean spend most of our time waiting in lines for bathrooms, face painting, jumpy castles and ice cream in between force feeding the kids the least greasy food we can find and applying sunscreen. #ohwell #salmonfest #weusedtobecool

The 5x7 playmat with roads and a little town scene was one of our best additions this time out. What's not to like about increasing our living space by 35 sq ft? That's more than 15%. It's technically indoor/outdoor but the rubberized backing seems to keep the nice soft upper carpeting from picking up moisture. We usually fold it up at night and slide it under the trailer to avoid condensation. While underway, it rides in the Thule roof box where it's okay if it's a little dusty. The black and brown fabric basket is referred to as "the random box" and contains miscellaneous hot wheels, plastic animal figures and anything else without a home we can dump out to keep everyone occupied. #airstream #airstreamtoalaska #airstreamwithkids #myrivetedlife #liveriveted #travelwithkids #childhoodunplugged

The bald eagles on Ninilchik Beach have easy pickin's from the halibut carcasses tossed overboard by the charter boats after cleaning. This guy sitting on the rock in the middle left had had his fill. The little village of Ninilchik, made up mostly of rickety shacks nestled into the curves of the Ninilchik River, was originally settled in the 1800's by Russian colonists. Even after William H.
